Most of the time, the reason why Google Chrome is not loading pages is probably due to a bad network state, whether on Android and iPhone or Windows 10/8/7 / Vista / XP and macOS X / Sierra / High Sierra. Therefore, the first concern is to verify if your network is good. Or, you should try the following solutions. Now, let’s take a look.
Part 1: Google Chrome Not Loading Pages on Mobile
Most users who have encountered that headache are using an Android, Samsung or iPhone X / 8/7/6. Actually, compared to Windows and Mac, it is easier to solve this problem on mobile phones. Now, to have more knowledge, let’s start.
Workaround 1: Force Stop Chrome and Reboot Android/iPhone
Unexpected problems are usually caused by a temporary failure, which can be resolved with a new restart.
- Android users can force Google Chrome to stop using “Settings”> “Applications”> “Chrome”> “Force stop” and then restart the device again.
- IOS users can restart the iPhone / iPad by pressing and holding the “Start” and “Activate / Suspend” buttons. When the screen dims, start the device after a couple of minutes.
Workaround 2: Clear Cache and Data (Android Only)
Android users have another exclusive solution: clear cache and data in Google Chrome. This is also an effective way to address the Chrome issue. Do not load pages, as the redundant cache will affect your browsing experience. To clear cache and data, follow here (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge as an example)
- All cache and data: “Settings”> “Device maintenance”> “Storage”> “Clear now”.
- Cache and data in Chrome: “Settings”> “Applications”> “Chrome”> “Storage”> “DELETE CACHE” and “DELETE DATA”.
Workaround 3: Switch to Mobile Internet or Wi-Fi
Since the potential culprit is the network conditions. If you are still using a Wi-Fi connection, you can try connecting to another Wi-Fi connection if possible. Otherwise, try switching to mobile data temporarily and see if Chrome can load pages now.
Workaround 4: Update or Reinstall Chrome App
Another possibility is the compatibility of Chrome. If you have updated your operating system but have not updated Chrome to the latest version, this problem occurs in some way. Therefore, I suggest you update Google Chrome or reinstall it on your Android / iPhone.
Workaround 5: Reset Network Settings
Each time a phone connects to new Wi-Fi networks, the settings will be saved. When the day comes, there will be too much Wi-Fi data stored on your phone, so this may cause Chrome to not load pages. To reset the network settings, see here:
- Android: Go to “Settings”> “General Administration”> “Reset”> “Reset Network Settings”.
- iPhone: Go to “Settings”> “General”> “Reset”> “Reset network settings”.
Part 2: Chrome Not Loading Pages Properly on Win/Mac
Google Chrome is the popular web browser that people get used to at work or in life. Even some still use Chrome on MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro/mini. However, quite a few users encounter a drawback that Chrome will not load pages without any reason. Without worries. The following methods are applicable to computers with Windows 10/8/7 / Vista / XP or macOS X / Sierra / High Sierra.
Workaround 1: Clear Cache on Chrome
The easiest and simplest approach is to clear the cache and browsing history, especially when you haven’t deleted them in Chrome for too long. Simply go to “┇”> “More tools”> “Clear browsing data”. Then, mark at least “Browsing history”, “Download history”, “Cached images and files” and “Cookies and other site data” to delete. The hot key is “Control / Command” + “Alt” + “Delete” in Chrome.
Workaround 2: Close Chrome and Restart Computer
In the next solution, I would like you to force Google Chrome quite a bit and then give your Win / Mac a fresh start.
- In Win, you can use the hotkey – “Control” + “Alt” + “Delete” on the desktop – to start the “Task Manager” and finish the Chrome process.
- On Mac, you can use the hotkey – “Command” + “Option” + “Escape” to start the “Force exit” window.
Workaround 3: Update Chrome to Latest Version
If you still use an outdated Google Chrome, you should update it properly to the latest version. A new version is intended to provide solutions for malicious errors and improvements for users. If the problem is caused by an error, it may have been fixed. Go to “┇”> “Help”> “About Google Chrome” and check if an update is available.
Workaround 4: Reinstall Google Chrome
In addition, some users have said that reinstalling Google Chrome works for them. Before trying, you should make sure you are logged into your Gmail account and synchronize data such as bookmarks, passwords, etc.
Keep in mind that MacMaster is a reliable and powerful software so you can completely remove Google Chrome on Mac.
Workaround 5: Disable Hardware Acceleration
Hardware acceleration is hoping to boost your hardware browsing experience. However, it is a feature that often goes wrong. As for me, I think this functionality is a bit useless. Therefore, I recommend avoiding it through “┇”> “Settings”> “Advanced”> “Use hardware acceleration when available”.
Workaround 6: Remove Troubled Extensions/Plug-ins
Some incompatible extensions or add-ons cause Chrome to not load pages. If you are not sure which one is causing discomfort, you can use the incognito mode. If the pages can be loaded in the incognito window, that means that there is at least one extension or complement responsible for the problem.
You can go to “┇”> “More tools”> “Task Manager” and then deactivate one after another to detect which one is to blame. In addition, you can press the “Shift” + “Escape” keys to quickly start Task Manager in Chrome.
Do these solutions help you get out of trouble? If the problem persists, I’m afraid you may have to use alternatives to Chrome, such as Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer and others. If you have a better solution, share your thoughts with me. Also, don’t forget to share this post to help others.
